Kanipakam is a small village on the bank of Bahuda River. Kani" means wetland and "Pakam" means flow of water into wetland. According to the legend of the temple there were three brothers and each one had a handicap. Viz., Dumb, Deaf and Blind. They were earning out their livelihood by cultivating a small piece of land.

In olden days water was drawn from the well by way of 'Piccota System'. As one of them used to irrigate the field through the channels, the other two used to ply on the Piccota. On one such operation they found that the water in the well got dried up and they could no longer continue their job. One of them got into the well and started digging it up. He was taken aback to see the iron implement hitting a stone like formation.

 

Sri Kalahasti Temple
Sri Kalahasti TempleSri kalahasti is a holy town near Tirupati in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. It is located on the banks of the river Swarnamukhi, a tributary of the river Pennar. It is also informally and wrongly referred to as Kalahasti.
It is one of the important ancient Shiva Kshetras (Shiva Temples) of South India. The temple occupies the area between the river bank and the foot of the hills and is popularly known as Dakshina Kailasam. The three lofty Gopurams of the temple are remarkable for their architecture. This temple was built during the period of King Krishnadevaraya of Vijayanagar. A huge hundred pillared mantapam is another important feature of this shrine.
It is one of the ancient temples included in the Hindu pilgrimages and the site of a famous Shiva temple with magnificent gopurams and is fairly close to the famous hill temple of Lord Venkateshwara at Tirupati, one of the richest and famous temple cities in the world. It is also the origin of the popular textile painting art called kalamkari.

 

Ardhagiri Veeranjaneya Swami, Ardhagiri
Sri Ardhagiri Veeranjaneya Swamy Temple has its origin attributed to one of the most important event at Ramayana. It’s the occasion at which Veeranjaneya Swamy carried the Sanjeevana Parvatha to the battle-place to save the life of Sri Lakshmana. This ancient temple is located on the luscious hills of the Aragonda village, Chitoor District. And it is at a 22 KM drive-away distance from the South India's most famous Ganesha temple from Kanipakam. The temple is open for public from 05.30 am to 1.30 pm and 01.30 pm to 9.00 pm. On a full moon day it's open until eleven pm.
