Maisigandi Maisamma (local name for Goddess Mahakali) Temple located in Mahabubnagar district is a revered shrine that offers spirituality amid beautiful and green pastures. According to the legend, a cowherd was on his way to the forest when he saw an idol of Ammavaru in the green pastures. He then reportedly rushed to the village and informed everyone about the idol of Ammavaru. The villagers were extremely happy to find that the revered Goddess decided to bless them in the form of the idol and started worshiping the idol. The Mahakaali temple here is undergoing rapid development, and it has also become a must-see temple, which represents the cultural and mythological leanings of the local Banjara people. The idol of Maisigandi Maisamma is 20-feet high while the Gopuram is also considered huge and different from all south Indian temples where it is opened in the top. It is believed that the Maata here desired an open temple. The priests of this temple are usually from Banjara or Lambada castes. During special occasions, the surroundings of the temple turn into beautiful folk destinations with Bonalu festivities and local Jatara. It is believed that Goddess Mahakaali is powerful and fulfills all the wishes of devotees. The temple is accessible through road and is located nearly 50 km from Hyderabad on Srisailam route and it takes nearly 70 kilometers to reach here from the district headquarters of Mahabubnagar via Amanagallu.
