It is believed that te confluence of Alakhananda and Pindar river was the spot where Karna meditated to satisfy the Sun God and was finally blessed with the impregnable shield called Kavach and Kundal (armour and ear rings).Formation of Karna Prayag has its legendary history connected to Panch Prayag formation.

Karnaprayag holds its significance in the meditative vibes it spreads. The pleasing weather, fascinating beauty of the surroundings and positive vibrations around Karnaprayag temple, the holy confluence and nearby makes Karnaprayag a perfect spot to practice meditate and spiritualism. Karnaprayag is the spot where Swami Vivekananda meditated for 18 days along with many other people.

The age old temples of Uma and Karna hold significant position among the people of Garhwal and Kumaun. Pilgrims visit these temples and the holy confluence Karnaprayag throughout the year with great devotion and faith. Shradha (last rites of late ancestors) at the prayag (confluence) and pooja (worship) at the temple is practiced by most of the Hindu devotees.

Pindar river flowing rapidly from the pindar glacier and placid Alakhananda meet at Karnaprayag and amaze the tourists with placid flow Alakhanada retains. Karnaprayag is one of the most visited spots in Dev Bhoomi Uttarakhand. The pilgrimage site famous among the Char Dham pilgrims and other religious tourists is also popular among nature lovers, trekkers and adventurer tourists for its natural beauty. The spectacular view of karnaprayag, tall snow capped Himalayas which seem to touch the sky and fascinate the tourists with their beauty. The panoramic view of Himalayas was spellbound the tourists.

Tourists will get enough hotels to stay and eat good food. Karnaprayag is a resting spot for the pilgrims and tourists to Badrinath, one of the four pilgrimage sites of Char Dham.

Best Time to Visit
Escaping the monsoon months July, August and September, tourists can visit Karnaprayag any time during the year. Monsoon will also be fun with green vegetation and profound natural beauty, but heavy rainfall may damage the trip making the route muddy. In winter the tourists can play with snow and enjoy the splendid view of snow.
