Kadiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy

Significance
Kadiri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple is located in the southeastern part of Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh, India. Lord Narasimha at Kadiri is swayambhu emerging from the roots of Khadri tree. He appears here as Ashta Bahu Narasimha (having eight hands) tearing Hiranyakasipu. We can see Prahlada standing beside him with folded hands.

History
The town got its name from Khadri, in Sanskrit, which means Indian mulberry. It is trusted that Lord Shri Khadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy left this tree. The fundamental god in Kadiri Laksmi Narasimha Swamy sanctuary is Ashta Bahu Shri Narasimha who has eight hands mauling open the collection of Hiranyakashipu. This was one of the ten symbols or rebirths of Lord Vishnu. The claim to fame of this sanctuary is that after the day by day respect known as Abhishekam is played out; the Lord Narasimha supposedly is sweating in spite of being wiped clean by the sanctuary ministers.

Narasimha signifies 'Man Lion' as that was the shape taken by Lord Vishnu to execute Hiranyakashipu who couldn't be slaughtered something else. This incarnation has been specified in the Puranas, Upanishads and alternate religious course readings of the Hindus. It is just a specify on how truth can conquer insidious in spite of the challenges. He is imagined as a half man with the middle and lower body and the face and hands, that of a lion.

Legends
The unbelievable part of this sanctuary goes back to Thretha yuga, one of the four Yugas which are measured by the quantity of years. The four Yugas are:

  • Satya Yuga: 1728000 years
  • Tretha Yuga: 1296000 years
  • Dwapara Yuga: 864000 years
  • Kali Yuga: 432000

The sacred texts say that Lord Vishnu, in one of his incarnations as Lord Narasimha , in his anger slid down on to earth as Ugrarupa to execute Hiranyakashipu, who needed to vindicate the passing of his sibling Hiranyaksha . Hiranyaksha was murdered by one rebirth of Lord Vishnu as Varaha. He berated the general population and tormented the sages and the average folks for imploring Lord Vishnu. The sages showed up before Lord Vishnu to end this fear. In the in the interim Hiranyakashipu got a help from Lord Brahma subsequent to imploring intensely for some help. The help was that it would be unimaginable for any human to murder him. At last, Lord Vishnu needed to resurrect as Narasimha to murder Hiranyakashipu, as he was going to slaughter his own child for indicating steadfastness to Lord Vishnu.

It is said that Lord Narasimha rose up out of the Khadri tree to act his part in executing Hiranyakashipu at this place. The sanctuary was worked by one Ranganayudu, a Palegar of Pathariapattanam.

The Rangamantapam has been luxuriously cut with scenes from the Ramayana and further down, the Lakshmi mantapa has portrayals of the Mahabharatha. There are engravings on what the rulers have given to the sanctuary. The carvings and sacred texts have begun blurring because of the fancies of atmosphere and climate.
