Jharani Narasimha Swamy Temple, Bidar

Significance

The Deity Lord Narasimha of this temple is 'Swayambhu' (self manifested) and very powerful. After killing Demons Hiranyakashyapa and Jalasura, He started to flow in the form of water towards Lord Shiva in the same cave. Hence got the name as Jharani Narasimha Cave Temple. There is a sacred perennial stream of water continuously flowing from the feet of Lord Narasimha for hundreds of years in the same place. Therefore, people visiting this temple need to literally strive through this water to get the blessings of Lord.

History

The Sthalapuranam of this sanctuary expresses that when Lord Vishnu took Narasimha Avataar to murder the Demon Hiranyakashyapa he likewise slaughtered another asura (monster) named Jalasura, and lived in an indistinguishable give in from it was his home. As Jalasura was a fervent lover of Lord Shiva, in his final gasp he asked for Lord Vishnu (Lord Narasimha) to remain in a similar buckle where he was living and favor the lovers. In this way, Lord Narasimha took the Swayambhu Avataar and the Demon Jalasura appeared as Natural Spring water which streams continuosly through Lord's feet till date from several years back and fills the buckle giving it the name as "Jharani Narasimha Cave Temple".There is a drinking fountain outside the sanctuary, in which individuals shower before entering the give in. The water in the surrender is around 3-4 feet profound and is pervaded with Bats and Insects and enthusiasts need to swim through this water to look for the darshan of Lord. Toward the finish of the give in there is generally cut picture of Lord Narasimha on a stone divider. To influence the fans to free from suffocation, legitimate ventilation and power are given through the Aerators which are introduced in the buckle which draw natural air into the hollows trench. Because of absence of room, just 8 individuals are permitted at an opportunity to take darshan while the others need to hold up in the water.

What makes this sanctuary gutsy and exceptional is one needs to stroll down inside a messy strides for around 300 meters and move in through water which comes upto chest level, to look for darshan of Lord Narasimha. To the correct side of sanctum is put Lord Shiva who was revered by Demon Jalasura and a harsh structure of Lord Narasimha as well.

Legends

The legend goes that, Lord Narasimha subsequent to slaughtering Hiranyakashpu, continued to execute an evil spirit named Jalasura. Jalasura was a staunch enthusiast of Lord Shiva. After he was slaughtered by Lord Narasimha, Jalasura transforms into water begins spilling out of Lord's feet. What's more, right up 'til today water continues spilling out of master's feet and fills the give in.

Thus, to achieve the master we should swim through a 300 feet long surrender, with water around 4 feet profound. Bats dangling from the give in's roof add to the excite. Lighting and ventilation have been as of late introduced. The water is somewhat sloppy, since it is streaming water it isn't awkward to walk thorugh it.

There is a drinking fountain outside the sanctuary, in which individuals shower before entering the give in.

Toward the finish of the give in we have Lord Narasimha and furthermore the Shiva linga which Jalasura was worshiping. There is less place to remain, around 8 individuals can see the master without a moment's delay. On the off chance that there are more individuals they need to hold up in water.
